An unsafe living environment can cause an unexpected fall resulting in a serious injury. For someone who is elderly or anyone of compromised physical mobility this may create a situation in which its no longer safe to live at home. Therefore, they may decide to relocate and enroll in an assisted living facility - spending upwards of 100 k per year over the course of 3 to 5 years on average. A staggering financial number! For most, this will create a serious financial and emotional strain and a decrease in independence for the individual.

Backed by 38+ years of experience, our home safety modification program provides you the support, equipment, and expertise necessary so that you can continue to live safely in your own home for a fraction of the cost.

We accomplish this by modifying homes through the installation of walk- in showers, stair lifts, elevators, ramps, grab bars ,etc. and a thorough home safety/fall assessment. An established physical /occupational therapist will supervise our experiences contractors to provide you with the safest living environment in order to age in place.

About Us: E-Mods

Why use us?

Our services are intended to assist those who have recently sustained an injury/fall or discharged from a hospital or a short/long-term rehabilitation facility. Upon request, our experienced Physical/Occupational Therapists will assess the home environment prior to being discharged.

What are E-Mods?

Our experienced staff provides environmental modification (E-Mod) assessments and home safety analysis, including complete fall analysis for ALL ages. Environmental modifications are internal and external physical adaptations to the home, which are necessary to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of individual(s). These modifications enable the individual to function with greater independence and prevent hospitalization or institutionalization.

Our Services

Most typical ergonomically designed E-Mods include but not limited to:

Director's Bio

Steven J. Halperin, PT, Director, has practiced physical therapy since 1986 in a variety of settings, specializing in Sports and Orthopedic PT, neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. Mr. Halperin provided home care for more than 37 years throughout New York City, Nassau and Suffolk counties focusing on restorative physical therapy, home safety assessments/fall prevention and home remodeling/modifications. Mr. Halperin is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton where he received a BA in Psychology and a BS degree in Physical Therapy from the New York University Department of Physical Therapy.
